GEORGIA — A worker at a Hyundai plant in Georgia has died after an accident.
Keith Wheeler, a forklift operator, was killed after an accident at the Hyundai MOBIS plant in West Point, Georgia, Wednesday night, according to the LaGrange Daily News.
The Troup County Coroner said that Wheeler was reportedly driving a stand-up forklift when he possibly backed into a shelf and was pinned, according to WSB-TV.
According to the news outlet, Wheeler stopped breathing and had no pulse when first responders got to him. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office are both investigating the accident. WSB-TV reported that Wheeler’s body is going to be sent for an autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Workers told the news outlet that they were informed about Wheeler’s death during a safety meeting Thursday morning.
