VAN BUREN COUNTY, Tenn. — While the Tennessee State Patrol beefed up patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, some troopers also delivered turkey dinners to about 300 people.
Trooper Sullivan, Sgt. Simmons and Simmons’ daughter were part of a group who delivered the meals in Van Buren County, officials said.
Across the state there is an increased trooper presence to enforce traffic safety violations during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Last year, 18 people died in crashes over the holiday weekend, officials said.
