Honda has recalled 295,000 Honda and Acura vehicles because of an issue with the fuel injection electronic control unit, the automaker announced this week.

The company said in a news release that the FI-ECU can cause the vehicle’s check engine light t come on when changes in the throttle occur. The cars can lose drive power, hesitate or stall when it happens.

The company said it “self-diagnosed this issue by monitoring telematics information and determined the need to perform the software update of the supplier part.”

The recall affects:

  • 2023-2025 Honda Pilot
  • 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type S
  • 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type S

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted via mail in March and will be instructed to take them to a dealer who will perform the software update for free.
