Missing McDonald’s dipping sauce prompts bomb threat, Iowa man’s arrest

ANKENY, Iowa — Police arrested an Iowa man Saturday after he threatened to blow up a McDonald’s restaurant that he claims neglected to include dipping sauce in his chicken McNuggets order.

Robert Golwitzer Jr., 42, is accused of calling the McDonald’s in the Des Moines suburb of Ankeny at around 5:20 p.m. and threatening to punch an employee and blow up the establishment after noticing the error, WHO 13 reported.

According to a criminal complaint, police contacted Golwitzer at the phone number from which the threats were made, and he admitted - first on the phone and later in a formal interview - to placing the call, the TV station reported.

Golwitzer, who was released on bond Sunday, has been charged with false report of explosive or incendiary device, a Class D felony, The Associated Press reported.
