According to the Buckhannon Police Department, Tommy Coupal, 20, and Landon Covalt, 20, both of Buckhannon, were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, WBOY-TV reported.

Officers with the department learned of a possible drug deal occurring in Buckhannon, according to the television station.

According to a criminal complaint, Coupal and Covalt drove to a Lowe’s store in Buckhannon on Saturday intending to trade a “Gelato” strain of marijuana for a 2006 Dodge Ram truck.

Under a false Facebook account, the men allegedly “offered to trade 10 pounds of ‘Gelato’ for the vehicle,” WBOY reported. The men then allegedly “provided a video of the marijuana and told the seller that it “smells and smokes great,” according to the criminal complaint.

A police officer posing as the seller of the truck was presented with the marijuana and then placed the two men under arrest, WBOY reported. Officers also discovered two trash bags, “full of green vegetation that both looks and smells like marijuana,” officers stated in the criminal complaint.

After Coupal and Covalt were advised of their Miranda rights they both claimed that what officers found was cannabidiol (CBD), according to WBOY. The substance was field tested, and it was determined that it tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the criminal complaint stated.

Coupal and Covalt are being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, WBOY reported. Bail was set for $25,000 for each suspect.
