He started in radio in High School at 16 and worked at several stations in Indiana before moving to Florida over twenty-years ago. Slater decided Florida was right for him after a blizzard left him stranded at the radio station for three-days. Ever eat vending machine food for three-days? Not a good idea. Two-months later he was in Florida.
Slater has been with Cox Radio for almost twenty-years. He started out with their NewsTalk station in Orlando and then was moved over to Cox's Classic Rock station. Six-years ago a job opened with Cox Radio Tampa Bay and he couldn't wait to leave the land of Mickey Mouse and mellow out on Florida's West Coast.
Slater admits he's a degenerate gambler and you'll probably find him hanging out at one of the local Pari-mutuels. When he's not losing his paycheck at the track you'll find him shooting darts at a local bar.
