As Inside Radio first reported October 26, Todd "Bubba" Clem had been approached by several operators looking to put him back on free radio. The winner: Cox Radio, which will air Bubba's new morning show on classic rockers WHPT, Tampa and WFYV-FM, Jacksonville. He will also continue hosting a separate, uncensored afternoon show for Sirius' "Howard 100" channel under a one-year contract extension signed over the weekend. Clem joined Sirius in January 2006, two years after he was fired by Clear Channel for excessive indecency fines. Insiders said the new deal would be all about cash, and the Tampa Tribune estimates the two contracts could be worth more than $3 million a year. Clem tells the paper he has "a lot of unfinished business" in the two markets, pointing out "I never got to say goodbye to the fans." Cox regional VP Jay O'Connor downplays worries Clem will be slapped with new, stiffer indecency fines. He tells the Tribune "I think Bubba is more concerned about this than I am" but notes the show will have a ten-second delay. The contract also includes a potential one-strike-and-you're-out claus.
